Mission Statement

The mission of Roxboro Community School is to achieve and maintain educational excellence by providing a small, inviting and nurturing school that focuses on grades six through 12. RCS values and respects each member of our school family, thus enabling everyone to become effective, productive citizens. RCS will provide an environment that will direct our students to focus on relevant and rigorous learning that will continue after high school. It is the vision of our school to create educated, responsible and productive men and women who are equipped to face the challenges of the 21st Century.

What do you love about your school?

  • Chartered in 2006, RCS offers a college preparatory program of study in a small, nurturing environment.
  • Our graduates have been accepted at Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, West Point, Columbia, The University of Tennessee, Pace University in New York and beyond.
  • 40% of our staff have a Master's Degree or higher.
  • Our graduation rate is consistently near 100%.
  • We are thrilled to have three staff members who have been named North Carolina Charter Schools Teachers of the Year.
  • Each year students take advantage of our international travel programs.
  • We are proud to be chosen the best middle and high school in Person County for four years.
  • Our students consistently outperform neighboring districts and charter schools and the state average on EOGs/EOCs.
  • Our average class size is 15.
  • Our athletic program features championship volleyball, basketball, baseball, and soccer teams.
  • We offer a wide variety of electives, including theater, visual arts, dance, band, creative writing, drafting, health sciences, biotechnology, technology, communications and film.
  • Our students participate in a variety of extracurricular activities including Beta Club, Interact, Youth Legislative Assembly, Student Council, Sewing Club, Junior Journalism Club, HOSA, Battle of the Bulldogs reading club, Debate Club, Art Club and Bulldog Blooms gardening club.
  • RCS is located in a renovated former cotton mill building, circa 1899, that is on the National Register of Historic Buildings.
