Grant cycle timeline for both EWIC grants

  1. 2019-2020 – 2020-2021
  2. 2021-22 – 2022-2023 (current)
  3. 2023-2024 – TBD (future, beginning Fall of 2023)

Factors for consideration by EWIC Commission in 2022:

  1. Duration of grant cycle (two years, three years, etc.)
  2. Amount of funds for EWIF grant (the current maximum is $60,000)
  3. Allowing folks outside of the EWIC Commission to serve on the Application Scoring Committee
  4. Visiting schools and districts that currently receive the grants
    1. Looking for what is working well and what might need EWIC Commission assistance, etc.
  5. Finalize both EWIC applications after a deep dive into the applications by the Application Revision Committee and the EWIC Commission reconvening after site visits

  • October 2021 meeting minutes
  • Welcome Michelle Logan
  • Take a new look at the 2022 timeline (working on the 2023-2024 grant year/cycle)

Spring or Late Summer 2022

EWIC Commissioners to visit schools (virtually if necessary) to see what is working for local programs, determine areas for improvement, and discover ways the EWIC Commission can further assist grantees and potential grantees in the application process

Summer 2022

Jacqueline Wyatt to work with HMB team (company responsible for building the applications in the CCIP system) to implement changes approved by EWIC Commission

September 1, 2022

Both applications to be released to the public

October 31, 2022

Both applications due date (by 5:00 pm)

November - December 2022

Application Scoring Committee to score applications

January 2023

Education and Workforce Innovation Commission to meet to vote on applications. The Grade Expansion applications must go before the NC State Board of Education as recommendation for approval.

February 2023

Jacqueline Wyatt to present Grade Expansion grant applications to NC State Board of Education for Approval as an Action on First Reading item.

February 2023

Jacqueline Wyatt to work with the Financial Services team at NCDPI to ensure funding is allocated accordingly for the 2023-2024 grant year.

Fall 2023

Beginning of 2023-24 grant cycle (remainder of grant cycle to be determined by the EWIC Commission in 2022)
